Leading Aircraftman - 233 Squaron RAF

In September 2023, I was contacted by the family of LAC James Witt (1920 - 2015) who served at Blakehill.

 

I am so very grateful that the family sent me his photos and his poem, "233 Squadron Approach to D-Day" and they have very kindly allowed me to publish them here.

​

James's poem is such a clear description of the air stations hurried construction amongst farmland that had been acquisitioned and how the weather affected the build up to D Day.
